Freelancers - Did you increase your rate with the new year?

I am curious if any of you had to decided to move your rate up this coming year? If not... why not?

The current rate of inflation is pretty low for 2009 in the US, but still at about .5%. Also, I've found my rate stagnant for the last year, due for a rise with more work coming in. I've not announced any official rate hike, but I'm probably going to give myself a 10% increase.

I'd be curious what others are doing.

I've been told to up my rate for a while now, and this year I've finally pushed it up, by not much, less than 10%. I've been (deliberately) cheap for a couple of years, building a wide client base, but now I'm pretty much always busy and have some solid experience so what the hell. No-one's blinked so far...

I was thinking about upping my rate but I wanted to see how 2010 started out cause of places I've gotten my rate some more than my rate and some just below my rate only because I dont like turning down gigs unless I have some already lined up. I guess really it depends on the studios you work for and if they can afford you or not.

I'm giving myself about the same. My rate's been pretty steady the last two years. I feel like I have the rapport with clients & experience to back up the increase.
