Hey all I'm working on sort of a spray painted on text effect and want to make my paint drip I've found tut's out there (mainly gomedia) but they aren't quite doing it. I'd like to be able to just create something instead of having to actually film paint dripping and add it in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's always animating a mask over a solid. Obviously keyframing would be a massive pain in the patella, but it's one way to go about it. You might also consider a particle system using either custom sprites or just large particles with gravity applied. Here's a tut for Particular 1.5 that does it: http://www.adamswaab.com/tutorials/spray_paint/

Also, look out for an AEP files called Style by "trapcode people". they were a group of AE users that created basically exactly what you're looking for, but the site has been off the grid for a long time. It uses the same procedure as that link above.
Hi Ben,

This AE Tuts tutorial might help you out. It's kinda like a spray painted on effect.

Hope that helps.
